Purdue Graduate Student Symposium on ESL Research
The Purdue University Graduate Student Symposium on ESL Studies (PEGASUS) will be held on April 4th 2009. Click to view Call for Proposals. Click to view Symposium Program.
The keynote speaker Melinda Reichelt, Professor of TESOL and linguistics, the University of Toledo, Toledo, Ohio, will give the lecture "Ten Things I’ve Learned as an ESL Writing Program Administrator".
The Symposium, organized and managed by ESL graduate students, focuses on both theoretical and practical issues, related to the field of English as a Second Language. We hope that the Symposium will spark a dialogue between ESL and other programs in the English Department to improve collaboration in research and teaching ESL students. For graduate students, the ESL Symposium is a great opportunity:
- to present their research in a low-stress environment
- to interact with their peers in a professional setting
- to receive feedback on each other’s current work and guidance on future directions
- to network with graduate students and faculty throughout the region.
