It is almost the end of the Spring semester which means that PFA will need new officers for the upcoming year. We will be holding the nominations and elections meetings this week. This Thursday, April 28, will be our eboard and junior board nominations in BRNG B222 @ 6:30pm. Whoever is nominated will need to prepare a speech for our last meeting next Sunday, May 1 (time and place are TBA). This is your chance to step up and show PFA what you got. These meetings are VERY important so please take 30 minutes of your time and try your best to come. Remember: YOU ARE THE FUTURE OF PFA!

The Mr. Asia Pageant and Cultural Show is coming up in two weeks which is next Friday, April 15. Our president, Wellington Ferreira, will represent us as Mr. PFA. We will be performing Tinikling for a cultural dance. We have decided to mix the traditional Tinikling with modern Tinikling.

Here is a preview of what we will be dancing. We might change some of the steps and add our own style.

If you would like to be in the performance, come to STEW 306 this Wednesday, April 6 from 6:30-9pm. Here is the schedule for the rest of this week for planning and rehearsing for Mr. Asia:

Friday, April 8: STEW 306 8pm-12am
Saturday, April 9: PMU South Tower 4pm-10pm
Sunday, April 10: PMU South Tower 8pm-12am

Depending on how much we get done, we might have to reserve more rooms for next week. But for now, this is the schedule and the only rooms and dates we can rehearse in. WE NEED TO GET THIS DONE A.S.A.P.! It’s crunch time!

P.S. Tickets for the Mr. Asia Pageant and Cultural Show will be on sale starting Monday, April 4 through Friday, April 8! Tickets will be sold in front of HSSE library in Stewart from 12-6pm.

Get yours ASAP because tickets WILL sell out fast! Tickets are first come, first serve and we will not be selling any tickets at the door!

We will be having a meeting this Thursday, March 24 at 6:30pm in BRNG 2275. We will be talking about MAFA that will be held this weekend from March 25-27 @ OSU. Please bring $15 for the hoodies that we will be wearing on Saturday to represent our org. We need everybody’s $15 because that is the money we will be using for the hotel, even if you are not coming to the event. Also, we will be discussing room situations and car riders/drivers and what to bring so it is very important for you to come to this meeting. If you cannot make it to the meeting, please get a hold of Marinett or Wellington and give us the money before Friday.

Hope everyone can come to MAFA! This is a great opportunity to network with other Filipino orgs from all over the Midwest, especially if you did not make it to FACT. Don’t miss out!

There will be a PFA dinner at Maru at 8pm tonight, March 9. Also, tomorrow, Thursday, March 10 is the AAA Quiz Bowl. It will be held in STEW 310 from 6:30-9:00PM. The format of Quiz Bowl will be team-based Jeopardy with 6 categories on Asian/Asian American trivia & knowledge. Teams will accrue points through their correct answers with the goal of placing in the top 2 in order to advance to the final round. There will be a maximum of 4 players per team. If you are interested in joining the team, please let Marinett know.

Registration for the 2011 MAFA Conference has been extended! Deadline for early registration AND payment for the early registration price is Friday, March 11 at 11:59pm EST. Go to the MAFA site to register.

Please register for MAFA now! It is such an amazing experience and you will have tons of fun. We also need to know who all wants to go and who is willing to drive so please let Marinett or Wellington know. Also, if you were not at the last meeting and would like to purchase a hoodie, let us know and give us your size. It is $15 to purchase a hoodie, and it is an American Apparel hoodie.
