Purdue Filipino Association

The deadline for the 2011 MAFA Conference registration is Friday, March 4 at 11:59PM EST. The registration fee is $35 and is processed through PayPal. This year’s MAFA conference is being held at OSU and is an event intended to reinforce cultural roots and to allow the opportunity for students throughout the Midwest to network with each other. So if you are interested in attending please visit the MAFA Registration website and sign up ASAP.

In addition, we are hosting a Movie Night at Wellington’s place on Thursday, March 3 from 7-10PM. The address is located on 314 South Chauncey. Feel free to come over and enjoy this lovely Thursday with us. If you are attending please bring movies and snacks for all to share. Contact Marinett if you need a ride to be arranged.

We will be having a general meeting Thursday, February 24 in BRNG 1222 @ 6:30pm. We will be discussing future PFA events, about our PFA Hoodies, as well as details about MAFA (Midwest Association of Filipino Americans). For the new members who have not paid their dues yet, please bring them to the meeting tonight. It is $10 for this semester.

This week PFA will be hosting and taking part in numerous events.

Monday (2/7): Harsha Gourineni will be hosting a Workout Night at the T-rec at 7:00pm. Harsh will be teaching the basics to weight lifting and will provide tips on improving your muscular physique. Please wear appropriate attire.

Tuesday (2/8): Wellington Ferreira will be hosting a Game Night at 7:00pm at his place, which is located at 314 South Chauncey, Apt #17. We will be playing games such as Apples to Apples, Mafia, Starcraft, and so forth. You may bring other games if you wish.

Thursday (2/10): Charity Date Auction will be hosted at the Stewart Center, Room 218. This is a joint event organized by the Asian American Organization, Vietnamese Student Association, and our very own Purdue Filipino Association. Please attend and support your fellow members Gretchen Van Meter, Hung Ly, Pauline Laorden, Tami Dizon, and Krisette Kho who are being auctioned during this charity event. Minimum bid is $5.00 with increments of $1.00.

Due to a blizzard, we will be rescheduling Game Night to Wednesday, February 9. Also, if weather permits, we will be having our general meeting this Thursday, February 3 at 6:30pm in BRNG 1268. We will be discussing future events and voting for our hoodie designs. We are having another Mackey Cleanup at 8:30 P.M. after our meeting at Mackey Arena. We are really counting on you guys to help clean up because each person that comes makes a big difference for the organization because they pay for some of our expenses such as trips to other universities, PFA hoodies, etc. If you cannot make it please let Wellington know ahead of time. Each person that comes makes a big difference for the organization because they pay for some of our expenses such as trips to other universities, PFA hoodies, etc. If you cannot make it please let Wellington know ahead of time.
