Biographical Info

I am a facilities & office manager in the Entomology Dept. at Purdue University in the USA. I work with a group of computer systems analysts and programmers who maintain and provide access to a host of very specialized agricultural databases.

My retirement plans are undecided for now. In the meantime, however, I enjoy hearing from those who are "already there." With this in mind, I belong to an international seniors email group and swap stories on a daily basis with several English speaking friends from around the world. Our host server is maintained by a fellow in New Zealand and we have members from Australia, the Netherlands, England, Scotland, Wales, France, Switzerland, Germany, Russia, Japan, Hong Kong, Canada, and of course many in the U.S. We have periodically had "gatherings" and Lil and I have been to five of these in Seattle, Washington; Halifax, Nova Scotia; Osaka, Japan; Auckland, New Zealand; and Sydney, Australia.

Lillie is a retired professional Girl Scout. Lil recently received her Masters in Fine Arts from Purdue where she majored in English and Creative Writing. We have four sons and two granddaughters.

Personal Interests

Besides computers, I enjoy amateur astronomy, reading & writing science fiction stories, birdwatching, antique cars (I own a 69 MGB), golf (when I can find time), and do-it-yourself projects. I am a member of the Lafayette Noon Optimist club and find the weekly meetings to be a great source of fellowship and a chance to see and hear lots of interesting programs and speakers.

Need a program speaker for a social gathering or club meeting? Have laptop & projector - will travel!

I have developed PowerPoint slide presentations (each can be previewed above under "Contents") called "Backyard Birds of Indiana" and "Amateur Astronomy." Each program consists of about 30 slides and takes about 30 minutes to deliver. With a week or so advance notice, I would be happy to present either of them free of charge (maybe some gasoline money if it's very far from Lafayette).

E-mail me at tfisher@ceris.purdue.edu or call me at home in the evenings or weekends at 765-589-8194.
