To Submit Works to WOTG:

How Words on the Go works:

The publication, now in its second publication year, has published quarterly, but in October 2007, will move to a bi-annual schedule. A new set of four poems will circulate in the advertising rails of the buses approximately every six months (two per bus).

The Words on the Go editorial board, a small group of interested poets, designers and community members, coordinate the project. The board meets to choose the most notable poems from recent submissions, then forwards its choices to CityBus for review.

With CityBus’ final signoff, the Words on the Go design coordinator meets with the project’s student designers to develop and produce the four placards to be mounted on the buses.

Guidelines for Submission:

  • Poems must be 20 lines or less, previously unpublished, and written by local first-time or established poets of any age.
  • The poems may take on a regional flavor or be an inspiring look at life or the language.
  • We expect to see a broad range of input and, to some extent, the poems should give us a vibrant picture of our community.
