Research Interests Ph.D., University of Wisconsin-Madison, 1996 (Program in English Language & Linguistics). Primary interest in understanding the coordinated verbal, vocal, and non-vocal practices that construct everyday and institutional life. Current experimental research on inter-turn silences; qualitative research on structures of interaction among fully competent adults and pre- or non-verbal participants (infants and pets).
