Interactive Floordisplay
Fabian Winkler

This installation consists of an intelligent floor, which remembers and displays the number of persons walking over it. Dots of norament® 925 floor mats are punched out and replaced by Plexiglas dots with integrated LEDs. The concept behind the installation is to eventually generate whole floors that can work as displays using their own structure (e.g. rubber dots) as a pixel matrix.
The picture above shows a closeup of the floordisplay: some of the rubber flooring's nubs have been punched out and replaced with clear Plexiglass elements equipped with LEDs. A gray surface underneath the Plexiglas nubs makes them look similar to the rubber floor whenever the LEDs are turned off.
