United Steelworkers

As of March of 2008, Purdue's GEO has formed a strategic alliance with the United Steelworkers through their Assoicate Member Program.

Purdue University / Indiana University Alliance
Beginning in April of 2008, Purdue's GEO has been in dialogue with Indiana University's GEO to form a strategic alliance based upon our shared status as labor organizations that must work without the benefit of collective bargaining rights. We hope that such a partnership will benefit graduate employees throughout Indiana.
Purdue University Progressive Organization Alliances
Purdue GEO has been fortunate to make alliances with other progressive student organizations at Purdue to establish solidarity on important political and social issues at Purdue and beyond. We are especially grateful to the Purdue Organization for Labor Equality (POLE) and the other members of the Purdue Progressive Coalition for providing crucial support during our first years of organizing. GEO will be participating in events with other member groups of the Progressive Coalition beginning in the Fall semester of 2008.

Other Unionized Universities
More than thirty (30) institutions have successfully unionized. Due to a strong and active membership, these institutions have successfully gained an increase in stipends, better health care packages, including dental and vision, and have implemented strong protections against overwork, and workplace discrimination. We encourage you to visit each of their websites and review their accomplishments!
