Recruitment

What is Recruitment?
In short, Recruitment is the selection process one must go through in order to be selected as a probationary member of a cooperative house.

In reality, Recruitment is the whirlwind day interested students spend touring each of the houses and meeting the active members. It's an exciting day as a visitor because you get to experience all seven of the women's houses and talk about yourself all day! And we have a great time as well showing off our house and meeting girls who will potentially live in the cooperative system or become a Glenwood member.

Recruitment is split up into two different parts. The first round is called Formal Recruitment and the second round is Informal Recruitment

Formal Recruitment
Formal Recruitment is held on two different weekends in January. You only attend one weekend. (We have two weekends because people might have conflicts on the first week.) Choose the weekend that fits your schedule. You can fill out the application online and send it in or bring it with you to Recruitment. Once you have registered, you will be split up into a group of girls you will travel with to each house through out the day. Transportation is provided. Don't worry about food either. The houses will provide you with meals and snacks throughout the day.

The dress for Formal Recruitment is business or business casual. Recruitment is just like a job interview. First impressions are big, so make sure you look and feel good. If you don't have a suit, you don't need to buy one but they do always come in handy for the eventual job fair and interview. Business casual means a dressy pair of slacks with a button down shirt or a sweater. Or you can wear a dress or skirt. As they say, it's better to be overdressed than underdressed. Whatever you choose to wear, just make sure you feel comfortable. And if you still are unsure, we suggest Googling "business wear" or "business casual".

While at Glenwood, you'll have a chance to tour the house and meet each girl. Be prepared to answer lots of questions because we want to know all about you. And don't hesitate to ask us questions.

Informal Recruitment
Informal Recruitment is held the weekend after second week of Formal Recruitment. Invitations will be mailed to girls requesting their presence at Informal Recruitment. The invitation will have the date and time you are to attend the house's Informal Recruitment. If you receive and invitation, please R.S.V.P.

The dress for Informal Recruitment is business causal or just a notch below that. Wear a nice pair of pants or a skirt. Stay away from jeans, but feel free to dress down from Formal Recruitment. We want you to be comfortable after all Informal Recruitment is more laid back and you should be too!

Formal Recruitment can be sensory overload! With Informal Recruitment you've had a chance to digest all the info and it's your time to really get to know the actives, ask the questions you didn't know you had the first time around, and finalize your decisions. At the end of the day you'll be given a card to rank houses in the order of your preference. You can fill out our take home and drop it in the mail.

Bids
During the week following Informal Recruitment, Recruitmentees selected to live in a house will receive a phone call. Only one bid will be offered to a girl. If the girl accepts the bid, she will be a probationary member and will move into the house the following fall semester. Congratulations!

Eligibility to Recruitment
Students must be enrolled or considering enrollment for the fall semester of 2006 at Purdue University. There is 2.25 minimum GPA requirement to participate in Cooperative Recruitment and at least a 2.25 Graduate Index or Semester GPA to be initiated. Most houses have their own minimum GPA requirement, higher than what PCC requires. Students must be able to reach the GPA specified by each individual house and classified as a full time student by Purdue University. If currently a senior in high school, please include your high school GPA. It is not necessary for high school students to convert to a 4.0 scale.

To find out more about more about Recruitment, visit the PCC website.
