"We do costume party socials, tv watching socials, dance party socials... We've got friends all over campus! 'We're kind of important. People know us!'"

Socials
Glenwood gals work hard. So it's only natural that we play hard too. Social functions are a great way to meet other students and kick back. Functions range from costume parties to trade dinners to Christmas caroling. We socialize with both men's and women's cooperative houses as well as fraternities.
Check out our social scene below to get an idea of the happenings in and around Glenwood:
Theme Parties :: Party time! Excellent! We love to dress up and theme parties are the perfect excuse to mear an 80's miniskirt, don a 10-gallon hat, or a blue leotard. Themes range from decades to Super Heroes and Villans to Hawaiian luales.
Trade Dinners :: The dance floor isn't the only place to meet new people. Just like at home, the dinner table is one of the best places to talk. By trading half of our members for half of the participating house's members, we are able to met new friends, see how other houses operate, and taste new recipes. Talk about eatin' good in the neighborhood!
Spontaneous :: A spontaneous is just that - spontaneous! Drop what you're doing and have fun! Sometimes they are spur of the moment theme parties or they are as simple as watching the OC with another house. Like they always say, the best things are never planned!
Football :: There's nothing quite like football season at Purdue. Each year we pair up with a men's house for tailgating, functions, and the seating block. Each girl meets her buddy before the season begins at the annual buddy function. Even if you don't like or understand football, Purdue games are a blast! We encourage everyone to get season tickets and join in on the fun!
Grand Prix :: Talk about going out with a bang! The Purdue Grand Prix kart race is held near the end of every school year and Grand Prix Week at Purdue is big deal. Like football season, we pair up with a guy's house for a week of excitement. Throughout Grand Prix Week, we have various functions with our buddies and there's never a dull moment leading up to the race. It's one last hoorah before cramming for finals and packing up for the summer.
Barn Dance :: We're just country boys and girls getting' down on the farm! Glenwood's barn dance is definitely a highlight of the fall semester. This hoedown is exactly what it sounds like - we go to a barn and we dance. It's a Purdue tradition that's proving once again there is more than corn in Indiana!
Formals and Semi-Formals :: After getting down and dirty in the fall, we get prim and proper in the spring. Our Valentine's Day dance is held at Glenwood in February followed by a formal held in a hotel in March or April. Our formal has taken us to Indianapolis and Vincensses and even Canada! It's a blast hanging out as a house and sharing it with boyfriends, crushes, or that super-fun guy who's always a fail proof date.
At Glenwood, we strongly enforce the drinking policy here at Purdue as well as the one stated by the Purdue Cooperative Council. We have sober drivers for those over 21 that need a ride and have a Risk Manager in charge of patrolling all functions to watch for underage drinking.
Everyone's schedule is busy and academics are a priority so we have lists for our functions. The house is split into two lists and one list is assigned to each function. Every member is more than welcome to attend each event and we always encourage attendance. If something comes up and a member can't attend her assigned function, she is allowed to find a replacement as long as she attends a non-assigned function later. Fun is right there in the word - FUNction - so attendance isn't difficult, but if we threw a party we'd want everyone to come. Our attendance policy just keeps us cordial guests!
