Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc. - Kaptivating Kappa Chapter at Purdue University
Congratulations Raniyah Johnson, aka BLUwilder, for making it into GAMMA LAND, Spr 08! We love you!!
Welcome to Gamma Phi Delta's Kaptivating Kappa Chapter at Purdue University. Our website is currently under a bit of construction and will be completed soon.
.:National History
In 1943, thirteen women met at Lewis Business College to discuss the need for an organization that would promote the opportunities for young women who desired a better education. The needs were met by blood sisters, Elizabeth Garner & Violet T. Lewis.
.:Mission
To improve the economic, social and political status of all women; to encourage our members to further their education/training and maintain a progressive interest in the values of humanity; to promote refinement and culture; to establish and maintain a better relationship among women of all races and creeds and to be of greater service to our community, our country, and to each other.
.:Service
Gamma Phi Delta Sorority contributes annually to approved charitable organizations that are involved in servicing humanity and whose objectives reflect our mission. We are particularly interested in working organizations whose objectives are the elimination of economic, educational, vocational, and social gaps that exist between the privileged and the unprivileged. Our service to the community may include the following:
and major events through the Purdue Boiler Volunteer Network.
.:International Affairs
As a sorority, we engage in Ribbons for Africa. Chapters collect pocket change and send their donations collected to Nationals, who forwarded the donations to Africa. This is done to support our sisters in the Motherland.
.:Personal & Professional Development
Kappa Chapter was chartered at Purdue University to promote the advancement of education for women. This has been done through study tables and creating monthly educational events. Another way that Kappa Chapter supports education in the community is by attending business oriented events sponsored by Purdue University. Kappa Chapter develops professional skills through etiquette dinners, resume workshops, and mock interviews. This is something that the chapter takes great pride in achieving.
The ladies of Kappa Chapter are united through our drive and common purpose. The support and love that is shared among the sisters in this organization is strong and can be seen from afar. Kappa Chapter has brought ladies from diverse backgrounds together as one, and hopes to continue to do so in the future.
