New Business:
Michael C. Kapper reported on the GradSEA sponsored question and answer
session with Professor Shirley Rose regarding English 106. Ten GradSEA
members attended the meeting, and Mr. Kapper will distribute notes about
the meeting after Spring Break.
Jessie Moore Kapper reported on the GradSEA Gazette, which will replace
the GradSEA Newsletter and the English Graduate Gazette. The first issue
will be published in April.
Committee Reports:
Gigi Taylor (ELL Representative) announced that English 629E is being
offered in the Fall semester. This new course will be taught by Professor
Tony Silva and is titled "L2 Writing Research."
Although an official report was not available from the committee representatives,
Jessie Moore Kapper reported on the Introductory Writing Committee's recent
work. The committee reviewed two new syllabus approaches for English 106,
a fieldwork approach and a literature based approach. The syllabus approaches

Greg Hill (TCS Representative) noted that the TCS Colloquium on March
12 was a success. Three members of the department presented papers to
a full house. Mr. Hill also announced that the TCS committee will meet
again in April.
Michael C. Kapper (Job Placement Representative) and Margaret Morris (Lenora
Woodman Representative, in absentia) noted that they had nothing new to
report for their committees.
