As the new school year approaches, we're starting to get emails asking about the club/when shooting starts/can I bring my own gun/all that fun stuff. So, to try to simplify the process, here goes; if you're new to the club, the best way to answer all your questions is at the

Basically, just show up and stand around in the entryway looking confused. We'll tell you where to go and what to do.

If you can't wait, try 1) reading our website, the answer might be somewhere on there, 2) asking in the forum (there's an anonymous, no-registration section if you'd like to keep your identity to yourself), or 3) emailing a club officer from the "Our Officers" page in the list on the left. Note that emailing an officer directly will be faster than using the "Contact the Club" page; the President and VP are good officers to contact when in doubt.

And one more quick note is that the announcements on this page are available as RSS, Atom, and RDF feeds, in case you use a feed reader and want to stay on top of our news without checking the page frequently. See the corresponding links at the bottom of the left column.

I'm waiting on two new versions of software we use on the website to go stable (phpBB3 and SimplePHPBlog 0.5.0.1), at which point I'm going to make my best attempt to upgrade them smoothly. Based on past experience, the smooth part isn't going to happen, so if the website gets a little goofy at some point in the next few weeks, that's why.

As always, there will be no practice next week due to exams.

Rifle and Pistol Club officer nominations/elections for next year will be next Monday, April 23. Anyone with currently paid member dues is welcome and encouraged to vote, and anyone who plans to be actively involved next year is welcome to run for an office.

Positions include president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, two armorers, rifle team captain, and pistol team captain.

There will be no practice this Thursday, 19 April, due to something else happening on the drill floor.

* All of the photos that aren't in the gallery can be found here
* Sign up for the mailing list online, instantly
* The main blog section looks much cooler and more Purdue-ish
