Friday, January 26, 2007, 07:40 PM - Tech SupportThe safety briefing has been overhauled a bit, and the updated version is available from the safety section. As always, constructive feedback is welcome.
Also, in the course of working on the site, the forms for emailing officers got broken, so the Contact Officers page is useless right now. If you need to contact the club through email, use the Contact Webmaster page above the officers link. Note in the subject which officer you'd like it sent to, and we'll forward the message to their inbox without looking at the contents.
Update: Officer email forms have been fixed.
Tuesday, January 23, 2007, 04:22 PM - PracticeAs of Wednesday the 24th of January, Wednesday and Thursday practices will resume. They are regularly scheduled for 10:30-12:30 on those days. Please continue to check this site for possible changes to the regular practice schedule.
Sunday, January 21, 2007, 05:00 PM - PracticeA reminder: tomorrow night, Jan 22, is our callout. Any current Purdue student or faculty who would like to attend is welcome (and encouraged) to. Please arrive as close to 7:00 pm as possible so we can begin the safety briefing on time.
Existing members: because of the callout, tomorrow night will not be a normal practice. We ask that anyone interested in helping with the callout show up at 7:00 to set up equipment, and help new shooters if they need it. Thanks in advance to everyone who can help.
Also, starting tomorrow night, the club has two open officer positions that we're looking to fill: secretary and co-armorer. If anyone is curious about either of these positions, talk to Tom at practice, or drop him a line.
Update (Jan 22): the Secretary position has been filled.
Monday, January 15, 2007, 02:29 PM - CompetitionsAll members of the Rifle and Pistol Club are hereby invited to participate in our annual pistol match against Ohio State University on Saturday, February 3rd, here at the Purdue Armory. Ohio State fields one of the top pistol teams in the U.S., and shooting with them will be a tremendous learning experience. Here are the details:
*Events will include Free Pistol, Standard Pistol, Sport Pistol (tentative) and Air Pistol. You may shoot any or all of the events.
*There is no cost to shoot, though you should bring money for lunch. Ammo, equipment, and snacks will be provided.
*Darren will be able to provide details on each course of fire and the targets to be used. No previous competition experience is necessary, but familiarity with basic pistol shooting is expected. Shooters of all levels and abilities are encouraged to participate. Competition will make you a better shooter.
*You must have all of your paperwork completed (including the blue competition eligibility form) and spring semester membership dues paid before competing. See Tom at practice to confirm these if you're in doubt.
If you're interested in competing, please contact Darren ASAP and let him know.
ALSO, there are still two Rifle Team competition opportunities left in the '06-'07 season: January postals, and the WIRC Finals competition at OSU in February. Competition dues are $15, and your blue competition eligibility form must be turned in. Talk to John at practice if you're interested in these events.
Monday, January 15, 2007, 01:51 PM - PracticeHappy 2007 from the Rifle and Pistol Club! As we gear up for the spring 07 semester, here are a couple practice related announcements.
There will be practice as usual tonight (Mon, Jan 15, 7:00pm) in the armory for any members who want to attend, despite there being no classes today. There will NOT, however, be a safety briefing for new attendees, on account of...
As noted on the callout page, our semesterly callout will be held next Monday, January 22, at or shortly after 7:00pm. This is a great chance for interested persons to stop by, learn about the club and safe shooting, and get involved. Expect the safety briefing part of the callout to last roughly until 8:00, and the rest of the time will be available for shooting/instructional shooting.
Wednesday/Thursday practices will resume as soon as we figure out who can be there to run them. We'll post on here and announce it at a Monday practice when we know.
