Jeremiah R. Harris
Economics Doctoral Student
I am a Ph.D. candidate in Economics at Purdue University (expected May 2014), working closely with both the Economics and Finance Departments in the Krannert School of Management (CV).
Financial Economics: Corporate Finance and Empirical Industrial Organization
Following completion of my doctoral degree at Purdue University in May of 2014, I am seeking a position in Finance or Economics. I will be available for interviews at the ASSA meetings in Philadelphia.
I completed the required courses for a finance doctoral degree, namely the one year corporate finance seminar and the one year capital markets seminar. As well, I took four additional finance MBA courses (M&As, Financial Management, Portfolio Management I, and Portfolio Management II).
Financial Economics with emphasis on both domestic and cross-border mergers: Industrial Organization (theoretical and empirical), Corporate Finance, Applied Microeconomics, Econometrics
My dissertation investigates returns within cross-border merger programs and the impact of mergers in the product market. The first chapter identifies and provides an explanation for anomalous increasing announcement day returns for merger programs into specific countries (Working Paper 1). My second paper (submitted to Rand) studies to what extent firm-specific discount factors explain merger formation and the impact of mergers on market performance (Working Paper 2). The research tab on the right provides further discussion of my research.
