Current Projects

Professor Hertel is currently engaged in a wide range of projects focusing the food-energy-water-land nexus as well as the impacts of climate change on agriculture, food security and land use. He also conducts research on the mitigation potential offered by land using sectors. Projects are funded by NSF, USDA, US-DOE, US-EPA, the UN-FAO as well as other agencies. He also led the recently completed pilot phase of a project entitled GEOSHARE aimed at providing global, time series, geospatial data for analysis of agriculture, land use, natural resources and the environment.
