Higher Ground Dance Company was founded by Jin K. Yoo and Angelina Ruggiero on March 12, 2002 as a student-run, student choreographed dance company producing a show each semester. Dance styles represented include: ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, modern, hip hop, and theatrical dance.

Students from all majors are involved with Higher Ground. It is a diverse organization allowing students from all areas of the University to come together to express themselves through dance. Membership has more than tripled since the dance company started in 2002. The rise in numbers reflects a greater range of dance styles and backgrounds. We hope to continue our growth and interest in the years to come.

The company's mission is to unite students with a passion for dance and a desire to help others. All proceeds from Higher Ground shows benefit a charity of our choosing. In the past, we have donated to the Women's Shelter of Lafayette, Heifer International, and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. This year proceeds will benefit Rainbows.

Higher Ground is a recognized student organization at Purdue University, West Lafayette campus. It is a dance company formed by Purdue University students. Each year, Higher Ground Dance Company puts on two showcases, one per each semester. Money collected from ticket sales, various fundraisers, and donations will be contributed to a charity of our choosing. This semester all profits will be contributed to Rainbows.

Members of Higher Ground are full time students at Purdue University, who feel passionately about the art of dance and who also feel compelled to help the world one leap and turn at a time.
