Native Copper Provenance Research in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve

These images were taken in the summers of 2003 and 2004 while attempting to collect native copper from several locations within Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve. At 13.2 million acres this is the largest U.S. national park and contains 9 of the 16 tallest peaks in North America and some of the largest glaciers. The copper collected during this fieldwork served as the basis for a study published in the Journal of Archaeological Science in 2008.
