Black-necked Stilt Fledglings at Pine Creek GHA, Benton Co., Indiana

On 19 July 2008, a pair of Black-necked Stilts were
found with three recently fledged chicks in the Feldt
Marsh on the Pine Creek Gamebird Habitat Area. PCGHA is in eastern Benton
County about eight miles east of Fowler, Indiana, on CR200N just east of CR850E.

Several marginal photos were taken just as a heavy rain
squall hit. One of adults and one of the chicks can be seen in
Fig. 2. See one of the chicks in Fig. 3.
Driving directions to the Pine Creek Gamebird Habitat
Area are as follows. From the Indiana highway SR18 and I-65 intersection,
go west about eight miles to Benton CR850E. Turn north and drive two miles
to Benton CR200N. Drive east for about 3/4 mile to the overlook on the
north side of CR200N.
