Dr. Chen Tan-San' brief vita~
1935, born at Yen-Shiu, Tainan county, Taiwan
1954, admitted into department of Mathematics, National Taiwan
University, then transferred to Department of Atmospheric Physics
1964, accomplished the Master Degree at Oklahoma State University
1972, achieved Ph.D. Degree at department of Earth & Atmospheric
Science at Purdue University
1973-'74. worked at the Officer of the United States Federal
Bureau
1978, President of Taiwanese Association of America (TAA)
1979, President of World Federation of Taiwanese Associations
(WFTA)
1992, DPP Congressman of Taiwan
1993, Governer elect of Tainan county
1997, Governer elect of Tainan county, second time
Dr. Chen devoted himself into the movement of Taiwan
Indendence for years when he was in USA. In 1978 and 1979, in order to
organize the Taiwanese people around oversea, Dr. Chen developed TAA and
WFTA. When Kaoshiung Incident happened in 1979, Dr. Chen organized the
Taiwanese groups to lobby the resolution of human right at Senate and the
House of Representative to watch KMT in the judicial proceedings for the
political prisoners. In 1992, Dr. Chen went back to Taiwan and champion
the governer of Tainan County for DPP.
In 1999, he won the number one poll in the evaluation of the
performance of county government around Taiwan.
