- IUPUI Library--Some books that you can't find in Purdue can be found here. To check out books from IUPUI, you need to bring your Indiana driver's license to get an IUPUI library card. However, the disadvantage is that the IUPUI library is located in Indianapolis, so you'll need to spend an hour to get there! You can determine whether a book is located at IUPUI beforehand by checking their online catalog. If you don't need the book urgently, you can request the book via the Purdue Libraries' Document Delivery service. It may take a week or two to get the book, but there is no cost for this service! (That's true for ANY book that you need.)

Bookstores
for Textbook
There are both advantage and disadvantage
to buy textbooks early in the semester. The advantage is that you
can easier find used books which are cheaper and still in good condition.
The disadvantage is that you may find out later that the books are actually
not necessary or hardly used in the the class. Of course, you
can refund them within certain period, but some bookstores are very nasty
on this matter (see below).
- PSG Book Exchange--A must-visit site for textbook! You can post books you have for sale, and can also request books you need. The on-line exchange simply avoids the ridiculous mark-up placed on used textbooks by bookstores.
- Follet's Bookstore--Used books prices can vary widely among their three different locations (Stadium, Northwestern, and Purdue West).
- University Bookstore--You can get 10% discount for any purchase if you show them your Purdue employee card. However, many students have very bad experience with this bookstore. This bookstore clerks tend to assume bad motivation out of your book refund--they will ask a lot of questions or even insult you in front of others. It is just unbelievable! This bookstore is the one closest to campus, but try other places if you have choices.

Sales in America--Here is everything you want to know about book sales
and bookstores run by libraries and other non-profit groups across the
nation. Some sales have a few hundred books - some have hundreds of thousands
- and they're CHEAP! (Usually 50¢F to a few dollars - some even charge
by the inch or the pound.) If you love books, this should be your
first choice.

Price Bookstore--The main used books in Indianapolis. The
prices are reasonable, books are well organized according to subjects.
You may not find many academic books for your class, but it is a good place
to find other interesting stuff.

Money magazine called it one of the two best book sites online (the other being Amazon). When you purchase a lot, it can be cheaper than what you pay for in any bookstores listed above. Arnett Clinic--This may be the
best choice for you to go when the University Health Center is not open.
You can see a doctor pretty quick here, the diagnosis is pretty much correct,
and the charge is reasonable. Of course, they cannot solve all your
problems sometimes they may need to recommend you to local specialists.

St. Elizabeth
Hospital Medical Center--St. Elithibeth hospital is quite friendly
and not so crowded. The disadvantage is that they do not have emergency
services for new-born baby. Also, normally you have to see 5 or 6
people before you can see a REAL doctor. All these people just ask
you the same questions again and again. The whole process of "urgent
care" will take you more than one hour--most of the time you just sit and
wait for these people show up.

- Car Rental--When a car rental agency offers insurance coverage, it's usually redundant. A driver's own automobile insurance may cover the short-term rental, or the credit card used for the rental may provide coverage. $12/day insurance is a waste if you have the credit card-based coverage. The rental company, of course, isn't going to tell you this because the insurance is a big moneymaker in an otherwise thin-margin business. They are counting on the hope that confused customers forced to make a quick decision in the hectic atmosphere of the rental counter will err on the side of fear and caution and take the insurance. .The best advice is to investigate these options in advance.
