Clerks 3

The front of the store was destroyed (drunk driver + car?) well before Christmas, and they still haven’t fixed it. “I assure you we’re open”

Have … you met Ethan?

I don’t think I posted about this earlier, but my friend Ethan Albrecht-Carrie recently tried out for the US Olympic bobsled team and made the team. He’s since moved to Lake Placid (or there abouts) and started training on how to slide down an ice track, quickly, and right-side up. Most of my Purdue friends have heard of Ethan as my personal wine expert, but he was always the all-around athlete and the kid that was competitive at everything he ever did.

Recently he was in Lake Placid (which also doesn’t have any snow) as part of the Geoff Bodine Bobsled Challenge which aired on Speed. The idea is this: bobsledding isn’t big enough in the US, and NASCAR is king, so, you take two parts professional bobsledders from around the world (and wannabes like Ethan ^_^), add one part NASCAR drivers, add some fireball special effects to the opening credits, and hope someone crashes. The real bobsledders are racing each other, and then pushing the NASCAR drivers who race about 3/4 of the track.

I Myth’d (like TiVo’d) the event, and made this little Ethan Highlight Clip podcast reel. It includes the introduction of the US team, the NASCAR drivers, the second heat that Ethan raced in (they didn’t air the first race) and Ethan sliding down the track, pushing Dick Trickle. (Ignore the announcer, it isn’t Curt Tomasevicz.)

Here is the video (29.3MB). It’s an iPod compliant, H.264 MP4 file. Enjoy.
