Last Huzzah!

Join the Ship of Fools as we sail into the final weeks of this school year! Improv Ahoy, fun times on the horizon!

We’d like to welcome every single Improvisationalist and Audience Member at large to our final two meetings of the semester.

This Friday, the 18th, we’ll have the standard open forum for you. Peace’ll host and Kamikaze will hook you up with some sweet, sweet improv workshop lovin’. It’ll be great, trust me

Then, join us for our finale during Dead Week. In addition to fighting off the zombie hordes, we’ll be bidding a fond farewell to our graduating seniors, Sweet Speak and Tripod. To celebrate their final week with us, the Ship of Fools will be doing an honest-to-God, polos-on show for the first hour. This will be immediately followed by an hour-long open forum. For those of you doing the math, that means no workshop Dead Week.

Don’t let these last few weeks get you down! Come hang out and laugh with your friends at the Purdue Improv Club!

March Madness

Hello Improvisationalists and welcome to the month of March. We’ve got an exciting month ahead of us.

We’ll start things off right on the 7th with the last meeting of the Purdue Improv Club before Spring Break. Come hang out with us for a couple hours before you head out to enjoy your break!

The following week is, of course, Spring Break. It breaks our hearts to tell you that there will be no Improv on the 14th, but we’d like to wish everyone a safe and happy break.

The Purdue Improv Club will return on the 21st with a normal 7-9 meeting in BRNG 2280. Come to hang out and laugh!

No improv on the 28th, but fear not! The next night, the 29th, the Ship of Fools and the Andy Ober Orchestra will join forces once more at the 3rd Annual AOO Show. The show is from 8 to 10 p.m. in MTHWS 210.

And if that wasn’t enough for you, you can come to the Relay for Life in Lambert from 2 to 3 am following the AOO show to see the Ship of Fools dazzle and astound profoundly tired people.

Spring Has Sprung

The Improv Club is not dead! Callout is the 25th of January! We will have a brief show by the Fools followed by an open forum night. Come to BRNG 2280 and have some fun! After the callout, the Fools will be making for Hammond on February 2nd and welcoming the Andy Ober Orchestra on March 29th! More info to come as it arrives.

Winter News!

There’s only two weeks of Improv left in this Calendar year, folks. I know that probably makes you sad, but we here at the Purdue Improv Club urge you to turn to laughter and come the final two Friday open forums. And we have some incentives!

This Friday, November 30th, we celebrate the end of November with a meeting hosted by the legendary Andy “Quasar” Ober. For dead week, we do away with the workshop to bring you a full two hours of glorious improvisation. Bring your funny. Bring your friends. And please, please bring your funny friends!

Double Barreled Shotgun of Kindliness

The Ship of Fools would like for you to join them in a sudden burst of charity this month.

Kicking off the giving action is the joint show with the Crazy Monkeys on Saturday, November 3rd in Matthews 210, from 8-10pm. Please bring a donation of $3.00 (or more if you want to!) which will go to the two very worthy causes of the Timmy Foundation and Habitat for Humanity.

Next off we have the annual Thanksgiving food drive for the Boiler Volunteer Network (the BVN for those of you who absolutely need acronyms to function). The details:

Who: You! The Ship of Fools would like to ask the Purdue Improv Club and friends to step it up and give us non-perishable food items. You give them to us, we give them to the BVN, the BVN gives them to people who need them.

What: A food drive for student organizations to benefit local folks in need. Please donate only non-perishable food items. Our club goal is 50 pounds.

When: Collections run from Oct 29 - Nov. 16 (@7:00pm). Our primary donation day is the November 9th during the weekly meeting, but we will take food up until the last day.

Where: Purdue, mainly Beering 2280 on November 9th.

Why: Because we’re relatively well off college students and can do a lot to help.

Halloween

This week, more than 300,000 improv dollars worth of improv property damage has been done to various improv real estates and pets due to improv wildfires. Do your part to prevent improv wildfires by cleaning up your improv campsites after improv camping.

In other news, the rumors are TRUE! The Ship of Fools will be hosting a special Halloween edition of the weekly meeting on Friday, October 26th. Wear a costume, try some improv, watch some funny. According to our sources, a party will be held afterwards. Directions will be given out at the conclusion of the meeting. Many bothans died to bring you this information.

Summary:

  • Costumes strongly encouraged
  • Free, no pressure improv to watch or participate in at one’s own discretion
  • Party afterwards, directions and details for those in attendence

Happy Halloween, everyone!

Ahoy!

The Ship of Fools are proud to announce that we have two new members. Welcome aboard to Steve and Brant, a.k.a. Angel Hair and Rubble (respectively). Be sure to give them a nice hearty Huzzah! if you see them. Also, you should read their very factual bios.

What better way to celebrate and welcome new performers than by coming to the Purdue Improv Club, Fridays, 7pm in BRNG 2280? Now with 100% less cholesterol; approved as part of a heart healthy diet; may cause uncontrollable laughter, appreciation for good comedy, and improved improv skill. Free workshop inside!

Fall 2007 Callout

September 14 will be the official callout for the Purdue Improv Club. In an unusual turn of events, it will be in MATH 175 starting at 7:00 pm.

Again, that’s MATH 175.

Whether you want to get involved in improv comedy or just learn more about us, you won’t want to miss it! You’ll have the opportunity to learn about our group, see a quick performance by the Ship of Fools that runs the gamut of what we do, have an opportunity to try some improv games yourself, and possibly finish up with a workshop.

We look forward to seeing you there!

An Update in the Summer

Hurtin’ for some Sexy? The Ship of Fools is the answer! We’ll be putting in appearances at the BGR Activities Fair, the PSUB Activities Bonanza, and not one but TWO weekly meetings in August! Come to hang out and get your Sexy back.

One Final Month

Spring break is over, and finals are coming up- quick! What’s a Boilermaker to do?

Answer: check out some Ship of Fools comedy! De-stress with your favorite improvisation troupe as we head into the final month of this school year. While we’ll continue the normal Friday night improv meetings, the third week of April (Grand Prix Week) features three improv shows for all different appetites. Also, don’t miss the recap of the 2nd Annual Ship of Fools Awards presentation and our semester finale (our final Friday weekly meeting - April 27th). Take a study break, grab a friend, and relieve some tension with the Fools!

One small note: thanks to all who attended the Ship of Fools/Andy Ober Orchestra comedy extravaganza.
