Any ideas for workshops you’d like to see? Please leave some comments and let us know what you would like to improve upon. A good improvisationalist is always seeking to improve his/her craft. Closing Comments (Fall 2006)

Unfortunately, scheduling conflicts required the Ship of Fools to cancel our show at Hillel for this year. Hopefully, we will return for more festivities next semester.

Having performed at Hawkins Hall and Earhart Hall recently, the Ship of Fools have no more official performances scheduled for the year, but we invite you all to come watch us on our regular Friday nights, especially on December 8th for one final stress relief before finals.

Thanks for all your continued attendance and support! Travel safe and have a good Thanksgiving break.

New members:
Reneé “Kamikaze” Leyburn (please see the updated bios page here)
Andrew “Peace” Blatt (bio coming soon)
Eric “Beard” Talbert (bio coming soon)

Is Time On Your Side? (Fall 06)

The Ship of Fools’ schedule for the Fall 2006 is filling up quickly. Many things are in various stages of planning, so don’t let empty spaces on the events calendar fool you; those will fill up as details get finalized.

If you’re interested in having the Ship of Fools perform for you, now’s a great time to contact us to start working out the details. Most of November and December are still reasonably open. Don’t wait too long, or you may find that our proverbial plate is full.

If you just want to find out when you next opportunity to see the Fools perform will be, check back here every so often to see what else has been put up on the calendar. Please see our Show Planning FAQ page for questions about having the Ship of Fools perform at your event!

Wait’ll we get our Fools on you (TM)

Besides blatant copyright infringement and outstanding improvisational comedy, what else are the Ship of Fools offering these days?

Soon, we’ll be ordering high quality t-shirts and other apparel sporting the sleek n’ sexy Smiley Pirate logo of the SoF.

If you’d be interesting in purchasing a shirt for yourself, friends or family, please let us know! Comments help us determine pricing and pre-order sizes, passing the funny and savings onto you, the customer/audience.

Where in the World? (Are the Ship of Fools)

We all know you can’t wait to get your weekly dose of the Ship of Fools.

Fortunately, we’re still doing our normal 7:00-9:00pm practice this Friday night. The difference, however, is our location. Due to scheduling conflicts, twice this semester we will be in a new location, the first of which is this Friday.

For just this week, we will be practicing in the Class of 50 lecture hall, CL50 224.

We hope to see you there!

Fall 2006 Recruitment

Attention fans and followers of the Ship of Fools!

Following the spring commencement of Purdue University and the summer of 2006, many members of the Ship of Fools (our performing members) have set sail for bigger, higher-paying seas in the wonderful world of real life and gainful employment.

What does that mean to you, the funniest person you know with a knack for quips, puns, and one-liners?

We want you! Members with regular attendance at our practices (Friday nights in Beering 2280 from 7-9pm) with a commitment to performance, a team attitude, and of course a bit of humor should know that the Ship of Fools are looking for new members.

Because we believe that even funny people have off nights, show us you’re commited to the scene and willing to take a comedic punch by regularly volunteering for games, and we just might make a Fool of you yet…

You’ll have the opportunity to learn about our group, see a quick performance by the Ship of Fools that runs the gamut of what we do, have an opportunity to try some improv games yourself, and possibly finish up with a workshop.

Video! Video! Video!

Remember that big Ship of Fools / Andy Ober Orchestra show back in March?

Well, a video of that improv show is now available! Now you can relive your favorite moments, or experience them for the first time if you missed it live, or print each frame on a separate piece of paper and make a giant flip book out of it, if deforestation’s your thing.

Helpful Google Video tip: a higher-quality version can be obtained by clicking the “Download” link to the right of the video. The version of the video displayed on that page is at a much lower resolution to save bandwidth.

If you’re wondering where the second half of the evening is, the one with Andy Ober Orchestra, well, the recording of that didn’t come out so well. The image is fine, but a lot of the lyrics are awfully hard to hear. If there’s enough call for it I can upload that video too, but a lot of that AOO magic is sadly lost.

Please Stand By

OK, eventually there will be some announcement or farewell address or something up here, but for the time being I just wanted to get the previous news item off the main page, since it’s out of date now.

So, um, good luck with finals.
