This THURS 6 PM – FOOD & SPEAKER!!

Hey Guys,

Since it’s Thursday and my I-must-send-a-Grad-IV-email instincts have kicked in, I am forwarding Emily’s email to you. Remember that we are meeting at 6pm for dinner at Emily’s house. If you can make a side dish or something, that would be great.

Have a great day! (and if you’re off enjoying your break, I hope it is restful and that you have a safe trip back)

Emily’s email:

Hi Everyone!

This Thurs. we are meeting at 6 pm at Emily’s house (also known as the house where once a comet hung…)!  We’ll start with a potluck dinner and then Dr. Louis Tay, Asst. Prof in Industrial & Organizational Psychology, will speak to us about his experience following Christ in Grad School & as a new faculty member.   I’ll make the main dish- if other folks could bring sides, breads, desserts, etc- that’d be great!

Grad IV – Back to Bible Study

Hey Guys,

This week, we will be taking a deep breath and getting back to a regular bible study schedule. This semester we will be studying the book of Daniel. As many of you are aware, we study using a “manuscript study” approach. We will have printed copies of the text that you can jot down notes, observations, etc. All other details are the same — 8pm at Emily’s house.

Have a good day!

Grad IV – Symposium Edition

Hey Guys,

There are a several items on the list for today:

1) There is no Grad IV Bible study this evening. Dennis suggested a trivia night at 8pm in Pappy’s (diner in the Union basement). The winners receive a $10 gift card to the union. So far, 4 people have expressed interest. Are people busy this evening? Is there something else people would rather do? If so, please respond to all.

2) The Symposium kicks off tomorrow evening at 7pm in Loeb Playhouse, with Paul Copan speaking on the topic: “Is God a Moral Monster? Good, Evil, and the Old Testament”. I highly encourage attendance, and friends are welcome! As Grad IV-ers, we have been tasked with handing out fliers at this event, and we may need a couple more volunteers. If you are interested/available, please come about 15-20 minutes early.

3) After the Symposium tomorrow evening, we will be going to Wings, Etc. to, well, eat wings of course (and enjoy eachother’s company/talk about the first session of the Symposium). Here is the location. When the symposium wraps up, we will be car-pooling and caravan-ing up there, so if you need a ride, you’re covered.

4) The Symposium continues on Saturday and Sunday with additional breakout sessions lead by various speakers (including our own Joe Whitchurch). I have attached a brochure that provides additional information. In the morning on Saturday, these are held at Covenant Church in West Lafayette, before moving to Purdue’s Lily Hall for the afternoon sessions. If you have time, these will be great sessions to attend. Also, we will be meeting at Boiler Market for lunch on Saturday in between the sessions (~Noon on Saturday). If you can only attend one session or the other, this makes it so all attendees can at least get together to eat.

Phew, I think that’s everything. Please have an enjoyable remainder to your week.

Kurt
