Hello all – I’m pretty excited to meet you!
My name is Beryl and I'm new to the Lafayette/West Lafayette area, having moved from Villa Park, IL. We’re here for my husband’s PhD at Purdue and indeed, live on campus in grad housing. Woo-hoo, we’re getting younger!
I've been making mead for about 6 years now and greatly enjoy learning, sampling, teaching and sharing all things meadish. I also make braggot, beer, wine (just finished up a dandelion must) and the occasional cordial.
In 2005 I won 3rd place in the International Mead Festival Home Brew Competition (catagory: "Other" ... *cackle*). That’s old news now so it’s time to get back into the saddle and submit some entries again.
I do still have my job up in the Chicagoland area, and drive right by Chicagoland Winemakers, a nice little homebrew shop up in Elmhurst, IL. Rick, the owner, is a great guy and I do what I can to lend him a hand, as he has helped me plenty in the past as a budding meadmaker!
SO - if anyone needs some supplies, as I'm up there once a week, drop me an email and I'd be happy to drive it home for you.
Pleased to be here,
Beryl |
