Committee Information
Each member of Eta chapter is expected to join
a committee and participate in its activities. Committees are a great
way to earn points for both pledges and active members. Listed below
are the committees of Eta Chapter.
Mock Interviews
This committee organizes and conducts mock interviews for
prospective teachers. The Eta Chapter was the first to conduct mock
interviews in the 1950's and maintains this tradition today. They
take place in late spring with many local administrators participating. Preparation
includes contacting local schools, signing-up participants, and collecting
fees, arranging set-up and food with Hillenbrand Hall, and arranging other
details. The day of Mock Interviews, committee members will need to check-in
principals and interviewees and, if you wish, participate in the interviews
yourself. Mock Interview day is an invaluable service Eta Chapter
provides to Education Members. Please contact the Vice President
of Committees if you are interested in this committee.
Technology
This committee encompasses the technology aspects of Eta
Chapter. Members of this committee will assist with the website,
take pictures, videotape meetings, and work with other committees to implement
technology. Please contact the Technology Coordinator if you are
interested in this committee.
Tutoring
This committee provides the opportunity for members of Eta
Chapter to assist students in the local community. Members of this
committee will help arrange times and locations for tutoring, as well as
tutoring the students themselves. Please contact the Vice President
if you are interested in this committee.
Fund Raising
This committee's purpose is to raise funds for the organization.
The funds raised are to help the general funds for operation and the philanthropy
efforts of Eta chapter. If you have great ideas and are energetic
about fundraising for Kappa Delta Pi, then join this committee. Please
contact the Treasurer if you are interested
Publicity
This committee promotes participation from members and others
in the organization’s events, such as Eta chapter meetings, fundraisers,
and other events. These occasions are publicized through flyers that
are displayed throughout campus, through display cases located in BRNG
Hall and Stewart Center, and other media forms. Please contact the
historian if you are interested in this committee.
Initiation
This committee is involved with setting up, preparing for,
and cleaning up the new member initiation at the end of each semester. This
committee helps to organize the presentation of the Honor the Educator
Award and the Honor the Professor Award as well. Members of this
committee will help mail invitations, prepare programs, and order awards
for the chapter throughout the semester leading up to the initiation. Please
contact the Vice President of Membership if you are interested in this
committee.
Literacy Alive! (Formerly Reading is Fun)
This Committee conducts activities that involve children
and reading. Some activities that have been done in the past include: Having
a book drive, and donating the books collected to a woman and
children’s shelter, reading to children at a library during story time,
participating in RIF week, and much more. Reading is Fundamental
week is a week set aside to focus specifically on reading in education. Please
