Homeward Bound

West Central Indiana has a five kilometer fundraising walk conducted each year by local homeless and affordable housing groups. Funds raised by this annual event help homeless citizens with shelter, food and other emergency assistance needs. The YWCA Greater Lafayette is one of several participating agencies this year.

Funds raised for the YWCA will benefit the work of the YWCA Domestic Violence Intervention and Prevention Program. Through its emergency shelter, the YWCA DVIPP provides a home for women and children who have been involuntarily displaced due to domestic abuse.

Our fraternity helps organize this event to raise funds and awareness of homelessness. The first year for this event was 2006, and we hope to make it much larger this next year through increased Greek involvement.

LUM Jubilee

Each Christmas, Urban Ministries gives away gifts to families that need help with getting gifts. Dozens of families get to sort through the donated gifts to find which ones they want for their family members. The gifts are then wrapped and packed and the families are sent on their way.

Kappa Delta Rho each year volunteers to help man the stations and help families pick out gifts. We then sit at the wrapping table and also carry the packages to the car. Members really enjoy participating and having an opportunity to be able to give back.
