Welcome to my web page. I am an
archaeologist at Purdue
University and work on the south coast of Peru in Nasca
(though in the picture I am working in New Mexico, Spring 2006). Please visit links to the left to learn more about my research and teaching. NEW: click the link for information on my lab and students.
I have just completed a multi-year NSF-funded project in Nasca where I have been attempting
to understand the complexities of Nasca ceramic production, distribution,
and use - what I refer to as the "Nasca Craft Economy."
Please visit Proyecto Nasca Temprano for more info.
NEWS: Published in Dec, 2007, this article in JOM reports an ancient hematite mine near Nasca, Peru. See these links as reported in National Geographic, MSNBC, and Science Daily.
See these articles highlighting my research in the local media: Purdue Exponent (2/27/07), Journal and Courier (3/25/07), Journal and Courier (9/2/07). Also: article in Science on the Nasca Lines (7/27/07).
