Reading is Fundamental
Kappa supports our national philanthropy of Reading is Fundamental with our yearly philanthropy. Last year was the first ever "Off the Wall" philanthropy which included a wallyball tournment and a date auction. The money raised was donated to Reading is Fundamental as well as children's book donations to the community. Ten fraternities were involved in this event, and it was a very enjoyable way to fundraise for our national philanthropy.
Greek and Campus Philanthropy Participation
This semester, we have participated in a number of campus philanthropies, including Lamda Chi'sWatermelon Bust, Sigma Phi Epsilon's Turle Tug, Chi Omega's Sand Volleyball, College Mentors for Kids Bowling, PSUB's CandiDATE Auctin in which we supported out president and homecoming candidate, Andrea Venditti. As well, we had a team in the Alpha Phi Alpha Step Show, in which we won first place! This was quite a feat and we congratulate the participates: Libby Farley, Morgan Goetz, Andrienne Pedigo, Britney DeBesse, Andrea Venditti, Marissa Iacopelli and Lisa McGuire, all seniors.
Community Service
Kappa Kappa Gamma also tries to reach out to the Greater Lafayette Community
as
much as we can. We annually viist nursing homes around Lafayette, especially alumni that live close by. Also, we have frequently volunterred as babysitters at a First United Methodist Chuch here in West Lafayette. We also have numerous goals to increase out involvement in the community, inclusing starting monthly volunterr events with Cary Home For Children here in Tippecanoe County. We plan to provide tutoring, as well as yard work cleanup in the Spring, to help out this excellent local cause.
