    I am a fifth year Ph.D. student (as of Jan 2015) at Electrical and Computer Engineering, Purdue University, USA. Since January 2011, I have been researching in Embedded Systems Lab with Prof. Vijay Raghunathan. My research interests covers various types of embedded systems, and  spans from a single device level to entire systems level.     

    Currently, I am focusing on the topics listed below

    • A co-processor augmented reliable embedded systems HW/SW architecture
    • Biomedical implantable wireless sensor device lasting several decades
    • Micro-scale energy harvesting that collects microampere level energy
    • Continuous computation in transiently powered computers

    I received my M.S. degree at Hanyang University, Korea and worked in Ubiquitous Network Systmes Lab with Prof. Seungho Hong . My research interests were mainly about control networks and I was involved in variety of university-government-industry co-funded projects. In addition, during my M.S. course, I worked as an organizing secretary at KATS (Korean Agency for Technology and Standard) and as a Korean delegate at IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) for international standardization projects. As a member of standardization taskforce, my team successfully standardized an Ethernet based real-time industrial automation control network protocol, RAPInet,  as IEC/PAS 62573.

    The followings are the projects that I was involved in during my M.S. course

    • Research of architecture and protocols of WSN for home/building automation
    • Building/Home WSN technology for smart-grid
    • Development of a KNX/EIB based lighting control system
    • CC-Link conformance test
    • IEC standardization project - 'RAPIEnet' (IEC/PAS 62574)
    • Development of 'PROFIBUS DP master device' for IGCC power generation plant
