Social Dimensions of Watershed Management
I really enjoy working with watershed groups across Indiana helping them
incorporate social data into their watershed planning and
implementation. My lab group
is currently conducting surveys of farmers and urban audiences for
several watershed groups in the state.
These survey results will help watershed groups understand
current levels of water quality awareness, attitudes and behaviors.
This work is part of a larger regional effort to develop
social indicators for watershed management.
I am actively involved in local watershed planning efforts for the Great
Bend of the Wabash River and I chair the Education and Outreach
subcommittee and serve on the Steering Committee.
Land Use Planning
Along with colleagues on the
Purdue Land Use
team, I have developed a training module on
green infrastructure
that can be presented to communities around Indiana.
I have also written some publications on stormwater management
and open space planning for
Planning with POWER.
