Church Council Meeting: Church Council will meet after morning worship next Sunday, October 5.
Thanks!
- To Megan Sewell, for providing some special piano music during worship on Sept. 21
- To Susan Linson, for cleaning the stone around the fireplace, in the lounge
High School Servant Weekends: We are planning some weekend events for high school students on October 17-19 and November 7-9. We will have activities for the high-schoolers, and on Saturdays they will do service work in the community, along with us. Volunteers are needed for both weekends. Sign up in the hall, or see Anna Armstrong or Chas Busenburg.
Choir: Our choir is now rehearsing on Wednesdays at 7pm. (Note the time change for this semester!) More singers are always welcome. You can get a ride to choir on the church van, too, if you let us know that you need a ride.
Lutheran Talk Radio: You can listen to Issues, Etc. on-demand. Issues, Etc. is produced by Lutheran Public Radio and hosted by LCMS Pastor Todd Wilken. Topics include: Islam, Defending the Pro-Life Position, God’s Will for Your Daily Life, Religion & Politics, Biblical Interpretation, the Pop Spiritually of Oprah Winfrey, Movie Reviews, Christ-Centered Fatherhood, Creation vs. Evolution, Witnessing to Jehovah’s Witnesses, and more. Listen to what you want when you want at issuesetc.org.
Lutheran Hour Broadcast: The Lutheran Hour, the world’s longest continuing radio broadcast of spreading the Good News, can be heard in the Tippecanoe County area on Sundays on 97.3 FM at 8am. Next week’s broadcast of the Lutheran Hour features a sermon topic entitled "Mirror, Mirror" with Lutheran Hour Speaker Pastor Ken Klaus speaking on the danger of looking in a mirror, for it may be too revealing.
Woman to Woman Broadcast: Woman to Woman, a radio broadcast about, for, and produced by women, regarding women’s issues in today’s world, as it pertains to their Christian faith, can be heard on Mondays at 9am on 97.3 FM. Tomorrow’s broadcast of Woman to Woman features a discussion on how unrealistic expectations end in discontentment. Author Kathy Miller talks about accepting life's less-than-perfect outcomes and to trust God's gentle plan for us.
Socks for Soldiers: We will again help with a project started by a 12 year old Fort Wayne girl to gather warm wool socks for soldiers in Afghanistan and parts of Iraq. You can buy and donate socks, or donate money to buy socks or help with shipping. A box will be out for the socks, and money donations may be made to the church, earmarked for this project. More information is posted in the hall.
Life Chain: Tippecanoe County Right to Life is sponsoring a Life Chain on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2:30-3:30pm. Signs are provided, and people stand silently, in prayer, along State St., for an hour, in support of life issues. If you would like to participate, sign up in the hall, or see Pastor. More details are posted in the hall.

Ask ULu Mom : Do you have a problem or question where you'd like a “ Mom 's” advice, but can't phone home for some reason? (How to sew on a button, where to find something in Lafayette , a recipe, some advice, etc.)
Ask ULu Mom @aol.com and a “ Mom ” from our church will try to help. This can be anonymous, or as you choose. Big or small, we're here to help, in Christ's name. (If there are “ Mom s” who would help with this, let us know, too.)
Preparing for Worship : We put on our web site a weekly listing of the Scripture readings for the coming Sunday and a few comments on how they fit together. You are encouraged to look at this, and to read the Scriptures, as a way for preparing for worship.
Printer Cartridges: Remember that you can take empty printer cartridges to LUM (525 N. 4th St., Lafayette) or leave them at church. The cartridges are recycled, and LUM receives $2 for each one. All brands but Epson are accepted. Put your cartridges in a plastic bag or wrap, as you leave them. |
