Seasons Change in the Church, Too! Next Sunday, May 11, is Pentecost Sunday, as we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit and move into the Pentecost/Trinity season of the Church Year.
The Christ candle has also been removed from the altar, symbolizing that Jesus has ascended into heaven (Ascension Day was Thursday, May 1), after His 40 days of appearances to hundreds of people, after His resurrection. May 11 is also Mother’s Day, in U.S. culture.

Depending on the interest, we might team up with people from Redeemer Lutheran for this. If you are interested, sign up on the hall bulletin board.
Caring for a Cat: A graduate student from Korea will return home this summer for an internship and is looking for someone to care for her cat, a Himalayan, calm and friendly, for about two months, from mid-June to mid-August. If you could help with this, see Pastor or Nancy Maylath.

Summer Help Needed:
- We can use help taking down the cross on the front lawn and the trumpets in the sanctuary.
- We don't have any summer church mice, as of now, so we will need help with cleaning and mowing grass this summer, around the church.
See Dan Lehmann to volunteer for any of these. We might even pay someone to do the regular mowing for the summer. Contact Dan if interested.
Graduates: Congratulations to all who are graduating! Here are some of whom we are aware. We’re sure there are more. Let us know of people we’re missing. Do keep these students in your prayers. The Lord’s rich blessings to all!

Special Prayers: We try to include special prayers in the website each week. Pray
about these, as you are able.
Ask ULu Mom : Do you have a problem or question where you'd like a “ Mom 's” advice, but can't phone home for some reason? (How to sew on a button, where to find something in Lafayette , a recipe, some advice, etc.)
Ask ULu Mom @aol.com and a “ Mom ” from our church will try to help. This can be anonymous, or as you choose. Big or small, we're here to help, in Christ's name. (If there are “ Mom s” who would help with this, let us know, too.)
Preparing for Worship : We put on our web site a weekly listing of the Scripture readings for the coming Sunday and a few comments on how they fit together. You are encouraged to look at this, and to read the Scriptures, as a way for preparing for worship.
Printer Cartridges: Remember that you can take empty printer cartridges to LUM (525 N. 4th St., Lafayette) or leave them at church. The cartridges are recycled, and LUM receives $2 for each one. All brands but Epson are accepted. Put your cartridges in a plastic bag or wrap, as you leave them. |
