| Thoughts From Luther
“You may say, ‘The trouble is I don’t feel as
if I am righteous.’ You must not feel, but believe. Unless
you believe that you are righteous, you do Christ a great wrong,
for He has cleansed you by the washing of regeneration, He died
for you so that through Him you may obtain righteousness and everlasting
life.”
“God alone can create and preserve faith in us. God creates
faith in us through the Word. He increases, strengthens and confirms
faith in us through His Word. Hence the best service that anybody
can render God is diligently to hear and read God’s Word.
On the other hand, nothing is more perilous than to be weary of
the Word of God.”

“If I profess with the loudest voice
and clearest exposition every portion of the truth of God except
precisely that little point which the world and the devil are at
that moment attacking, I am not confessing Christ, however boldly
I may be professing Christ. Where the battle rages, there the loyalty
of the soldier is proved, and to be steady on all the battlefield
besides, is mere flight and disgrace if he flinches at that point.”
