Tutoring Opportunities

If you are looking for a math tutor, please contact us at mgiordan@purdue.edu

From Ivy Tech College:

We have quite a few students with some form of physical disability who need assistance with their work and it seems that math tutors are the most difficult to find. Some students need someone to take notes for them and some need 1-1 tutoring. We have students who are visually impaired and some who are hearing impaired. Working with students with disabilities is a great experience and it is great for a student's resume.

The tutors just have to be competent in intermediate algebra. We need people to take notes in math classes for students who are unable to take their own notes and students who need 1-1 tutoring.

The pay is $8.50 for undergraduate students and $12.60 for college

Anyone can contact me at my phone number: 765-772-9421 or my email address: vclark@ivytech.edu My office is located in the Learning Resource Center.

Thanks for your help.

From Purdue Intercollegiate Athletics:

The Purdue Athletics Department is looking for tutors to assist Purdue athletes. This is a volunteer program and Purdue will not pay for your assistance.

The requirements for tutoring a student athlete in a course are the following:
  1. Must have passed the course yourself with an A or B; or
  2. Must have been placed in a higher course upon entering Purdue, and must be comfortable tutoring this subject. (Example: If you started out at Purdue taking MA 161, you can tutor students in MA 153 as long as you feel that you know the material well enough)
This is a great opportunity for a student to help Purdue's athletic department and some of Purdue's fine student athletes.
