Rulings in connection with the case of

 American Civil Liberties Union v. United States

Request for a complete and full waiver of Rule 25.1 requiring 40 (forty) copies of the respondent's brief is granted.  In lieu of this requirement, two copies of respondent's brief will be sufficient.

 

Request for a complete and full waiver of Rule 29 is granted.

 

Request for a complete and wavier of Rule 33.1(c) is denied.  However, the Court has, in the past, accepted briefs submitted using 100% cotton rag (300 gsm) paper for printing the body of the brief..

 

Request for a partial wavier of Rule 33.1(e) is denied.  The cover of the brief on the merits must be submitted on substantially heavier stock than the brief using the appropriate colored cover.

 

 Request for a waiver of Rule 33(1)(c) is partially granted.  The binding requirement for briefs is waived only in order to allow three staples (in the left margin) plus black tape coverage of those staples.

 

 Request for a waiver of Rule 24.1(e) is denied. 

 

Request for a waiver of Rule 24.1(g) is granted.

 

Request for a waiver of Rule 24.1(j) is denied.
