English 108: Advanced Composition

This composition course aims to push the expectations of a typical composition class. There will more more writing, more research, more risks, and more autonomy. Therefore more opportunities to fall on your face.

The majority of the writing assignments will be posted on a weblog and shared not just with the class but with anyone who happens to stumble on the various sites. One of the primary focuses of this class will be to develop an awareness of the many reader-communities that may or may not choose to read the blog. Why do some people love what you're saying and visit regularly? Why do some people read it once and never return?

Because of the importance of an audience, we will give a lot of attention to interaction and feedback.

If you don't want to submit your writing to a wide audience (potentially worldwide) this is not the class for you.

In addition to traditional writing issues this class will also spend a lot of time on HTML and CSS programming.
