I maintain two web logs, one more faithfully than the other. Over at Wishydig I try to focus on English linguistics and philology while My Fenhop houses more personal reflection. I give most of my attention and energy to Wishydig. I don't take either one very seriously. Nor should anyone else.
I've been playing the guitar since I was 13 years old (back when it was mandatory for every boy in junior high). My first guitar was a Lotus copy of a Jackson electric that I saved up for and bought for $260. It had a salmon-colored body (read: pink) with black accessories. I outgrew that quickly. Read more about it here.
I'm a terrible golfer but I love playing. My best over nine holes is a 42. Believe me, that's not an indication of my skill level. I rejoice when I can break 50 on each nine. I play with Tommy Armour 845 oversize 3 through PW. My sand wedge is a Cleveland gun metal finish and I switch between to Ping putters. For feel I use a Sedona, and for forgiveness I use an Anser2. Honestly, I'm not good enough to know the difference.
The nicest course I've played is Hawktree in Bismarck North Dakota. Cut into the hills just north of town, the holes rise fall and turn with the land. Yardage means very little when you're doing so much climbing up and down. The most striking feature of the course is the black-coal filling the bunkers.
The University of Michigan course is a close second. It was designed by Alister Mckenzie and features some very long holes and mogulled greens. My favourite view overlooks the campus from the 18th tee box. When I was a student there I could play 18 holes for $15. I've paid 5 times that for lesser courses.
