2007 Purdue Drumline Audition Information

To receive the audition materials, please click here and fill out the Purdue Bands "Online Interest Form".

Each placement audition comprises of three excerpts:
    1. Each candidate auditioning for snare, tenors, or bass drum will be asked to play a rudimental long roll.
    2. Each candidate will play the prepared excerpt.
    3. Each candidate will demonstrate sight-reading ability. 

-If you are interested in bass drum, you will be asked to play only one part, but we will choose which part, so practice all the parts. 

-Each person will be evaluated on the following:
    - Preparation of material
    - Technical and rudimental abilities
    - Ability to play and march
    - Speed
    - Quality of sound
    - Rhythmic and stylistic interpretation
    - Grip
    - (most important) Attitude as a team player.

-The candidates auditioning for snare drum must purchase a pair of Vic Firth's Ralph Hardimon signature Corpsmaster nylon tip sticks. 

-Also, candidates for snare drum should note that the "All American" Marching Band snare line employs traditional grip.
