Thank you for inquiring about membership in the Barbara Cook Chapter of Mortar Board! Mortar Board is very proud of its members. We are some of the best student leaders Purdue University has to offer. Our members are involved in activities that span all across the University. These organizations impact Purdue University, the Lafayette community, the state of Indiana, and even the United States and the world!
Membership in Mortar Board is highly selective. Unlike many other Mortar Board chapters, there is no petition or application process for our chapter. Rather, we use a confidential nomination process. In this process, other student leaders and faculty members nominate juniors they feel are deserving of the honor of being involved in Mortar Board in their senior year. The current Mortar Board class then selects the new members based on these nominations.
If you want to become involved in Mortar Board, our best advice to you is to become involved as a leader in campus and community organizations while you are here at Purdue. Be the very best and most well rounded student you can be. Do your part to make Purdue a better place. Become a true leader in every sense of the word. If you do this and remain a scholar, chances are good that you will be nominated for membership with Mortar Board during your junior year. Please contact our Head Advisor, Martia Brawner, if you have any concerns.
