FACT: 108 Indiana riders died in motorcycle crashes in 2004. Of these, 74% were not wearing a helmet. Why should you care?

FACT: Motorcycle sales among older riders have drastically increased in recnt years. Why should you care?

FACT: In 2005, there were 100 motorycle crashes in Tippecanoe County (where Purdue university resides), resulting in 68 injuries and 7 fatalities. Why should you care?

ABATE Basic Riding Class

This 18 hour course is designed for beginning or experienced riders.

 

Use our motorcycles to learn the basic skills of:

Straight line riding
Turning
Shifting
Braking

 

Learn mental skills for:

Street riding strategies
Special riding situations
Proper riding attitude

 

Learn more complex physical skills for:

Advanced turning techniques
Maximum braking techniques
Swerving


ALL STUDENTS: You will need to have a helmet, eye protection, long sleeves, long pants, gloves, and sturdy over-the-ankle footwear. Note: This class is on a pass or fail basis. ABATE of Indiana assumes no responsibility for any student completion of these rider education courses. To complete the course you must attend all sessions, pass a written exam, and pass a riding exam. IMPORTANT: You must be at least 15 years of age to take this class. You are not required to obtain a Motorcycle Learner's Permit before you take this class. However, the State of Indiana requires that you hold a permit for at least 30 days before you can obtain your license.
