This Flash-based timeline is the result of a course project in Composition Theory of the Modern Period. Underlying its creation is my scholarly interest in popular culture and how everyday people assign cultural value to the entertainment texts that inform their daily lives. In looking to do contemporary work with these concerns, I wanted to attempt a narrative that would account for the history of struggles over constructions of cultural worth.

Although the timeline at this point represents the culmination of the research process and is fully functional, I want to point out some additions that will be coming soon. Some of these additions represent ideas that I had while composing the timeline. Other desired functionality came to me late in the composing process and contradict the hours of coding that came before. Therefore, these changes will require significant re-coding that were not possible before the course’s deadline.
