Timeline of Highbrow/Lowbrow Culture Production
This project is an interactive Flash timeline that covers the period of 1690-1930. The goal was to highlight significant moments in education, culture, politics, and philosophy that contributed to Modern notions of cultural value and heirarchy.
Rhetorike: A Flash Based Card Game of Battling Rhetors and Philosophers
This project involved the making of a Flash video game to introduce famous rhetoricians and their basic philosophies in an interactive style similar to popular games like Pokemon or Yu-gi-Oh.
This project began as an attempt to make educational and persuasive Flash games. One game was a complete failure and one game is playable but contains some fundamental flaws. However, the project was undertaken for two reasons. One, for me to develop the Flash skills to make games. Secondly, to consider if Flash was a viable program to teach composition students in hopes to have them produce their own games. So although the games here may not be too exciting, the site mainly contains my thoughts and reflections on the process.
Using Their Images Against Them: Re-Imagining Ad Use in the Composition Classroom
This was one of my earliest projects. It's really just an essay that has been turned into web pages, slightly hyperlinked, and had images added. Still, it represents an early desire of mine to produce discourse that moves beyond the linear white page.
