The Games

I’d like to say that these are complete games featured below.  Don’t get your hopes up.  Both are mere fragments of what could easily be much longer and more complicated games.  However, I’d like to say they’re complete more out of a sense of having closure.  In actuality (as expressed in the introduction), the games were never necessarily meant to be finished.  I wanted the initial experience to access the viability of bringing Flash game production into the first year composition class.  So take them for what they are and enjoy!

For a less "hey I meant not to finish" take on the subject, see the experience page.

Grammarians From Outer Space

(you will need a highspeed internet connection and Flash 9)

Not much of a game here really.  More of an example of how to set a story and provide narrative context for a video game.  This fragment does include a short object dodging game that represents my first foray into Flash actionscripting.

Interestingly enough, for a game that reports to be about teaching grammar, I never got that far.

Grounds for Concern

This is a much more fully realized game, and clearly represents how much more I was invested in the idea.  It has a bit of a narrative setup, a training session, and then you’re off!  It’s basically a barista simulator that tries to give the player a basic understanding  of the equipment and processes involved in making espresso beverages.  And it’s all wrapped up in a fun, little Anti-Starbucks/Pro Local package!
