Interviewing students:

Only ask questions you know the child has the answer to

Allow a lot of time for interviews – give kids a chance to answer

Don’t print or air everything kids blurt out

Get parental permission for controversial interviews

Avoid asking leading questions

Ask the school staff to get clearances for photos and interviews of children on noncontroversial topics – standard form usually sent home at start of year

Check in and check out as a courtesy to school
