{ ARTIST'S STATEMENT}
My name is Nicole Banet. I consider myself an artist and a designer at heart. There has never been a time when I haven’t wanted to do what I am doing today. In the future I hope to open my own design firm and be a successful graphic artist. For the time being, however, I am working long and hard to reach this goal. By taking opportunities that come my way and by making time for the things that are important to my success I am locking in my future.
I use many types of mediums, but mostly sketching pencils and (of course) my computer. My process begins with sketching out ideas for a client’s project. When I have enough ideas down on paper I choose one or two and run with it. From there I choose the better of the two and ask the client’s opinion. I believe it’s important to consult the client every step of the way (to an extent of course) seeing as how it’s being made for them. I know a piece is going well when I’m in that moment of Flow, when time is not an issue, and when I reach a daily goal without even realizing I have. This experience produces the best pieces of work.
I am currently a sophomore in college but I believe I have a lot of experience under my belt. I have been freelancing for about six months and already I have had so many wonderful opportunities that I never dreamed of. I’ve done several websites for organizations and worked alongside an interior designer. I’ve designed fliers and posters and put together slideshow videos. But the best part of all this is: this is just the beginning!
