Planning for College Success (PFCS)
PFCS has two components: Gold Rush and March to College Day.
Gold Rush (2006-present)
In this program, NSCS members drive to Klondike Middle School Tuesday through Thursday from 3:45 to 5:00. Two different members go together each day. They tutor the students in various subjects and provide snacks, courtesy of NSCS. Tutors take attendance, and kids receive rewards for attending a certain amount of times during the year. Mark Robison currently runs this program; for more information, please contact him at mdrobiso@purdue.edu.
March to College Day (2008-present)
The purpose of this annual program is to inspire students from Tecumseh Junior High School to attend college. Students come to Purdue’s campus, take tours, view presentations, ask questions, and eat lunch. We always need volunteers to help us plan this program; for more information, please contact Elizabeth Pascarelli at epascare@purdue.edu.
Social Activities
We have free social activities throughout the year for NSCS members, typically involving pizza or burgers on the grill. Look out for e-mails and announcements at meetings for more information! If you are interested in helping out or planning a social activity using our NSCS funds, please contact Anuttam at amahapat@purdue.edu .
Public Relations
We put getting the public familiar with our organization as a top priority. If you are interested in creating fliers and helping spread the word about NSCS, please contact Carly at cadykstr@purdue.edu.
