**UPDATE**
So we've decided, and it turns out this will be a post-Lenten retreat. But that will not take anything away from the experience. We will be going to the St. John Chrysostomos Monastery in Kenosha, WI on April 20-22. This is a Greek monastery started by Elder Ephraim of renoun and is cared for by most hospitable nuns. Cost information is not yet available, but we'll keep you updated as best we can. Join us for this rare opportunity!
'Tis The Season
The Lenten Season is not so much about giving up as it is about giving. This year we will be taking a weekend out of our busy lives to leave the world for a weekend to give to those who constantly pray for our well-being and salvation. On the 24th of January (that's a Wednesday) at 7 PM, those interested in taking part in the pilgrimage will meet to decide the date for departure and the destination. The specific events of the pilgrimage will not be known until after a place and time have been established but it is sure to include a rigorous worship schedule, spiritual enrichment, and any number of different tasks the monks or nuns may wish us to assist them with. Cost will also be dependent upon date and place, but may be subsidized. Tentative, available weekends are February 23-25, March 23-25, April 13-15, and April 20-22. Potential Monasteries to visit include Nativity of the Mother of God Monastery in New Carlisle, IN, Holy Dormition Monastery in Rives Junction, MI, St. John Chrysostomos Monastery in Kenosha, WI, and others. Detailed information regarding candidate monasteries will be available at the meeting on the 24th.
