About The Man Himself:
If you're not lost, you can find some information about me on this site. You may be interested
in my vitals.
Perhaps you would like to see a
picture of me. If your curiosity
is not sated by those links, I can tell you a bit more about myself here. I am currently a
graduate student in the math department at
Purdue University. I enjoy reading. My favorite author is
J.D. Salinger (or is it Buddy Glass?), and my favorite book is The History of Tom
Jones, a Foundling by Henry Fielding. I also enjoy music. My favorite bands are Radiohead
and The Velvet Underground. During my youth, I studied computer science, and I still love to
program. You can find a few simple programs I have written below. I created this website with
Vim (Yes, I'm on that side of the fence). I am unable to
make correct use of commas (and am a chronic abuser of parentheses). You can contact me by
sending email to omalled at purdue dot edu.
A Few Programs:
Rankings: A program which ranks
sports teams. Here are the rankings
for the 2007-2008 college basketball season. Many thanks to
Ken Pomeroy for supplying the game data. His rankings are
probably better, by the way.
Life: An applet that models a simple (and
fictional) ecosystem. The blues can eat the greens, and the reds can eat the blues and the
greens.
CVT: An applet that computes a
centroidal Voronoi tessellation. It is deliberately slow, so you can see it evolve.
Planet: An applet that simulates a planet
orbiting a star. This is really pretty lame. I used it to introduce myself to
Processing.
A Few Links
Bobby Faller Memorial Golf Tournament: A golf
tournament held in memory of my cousin. I can be seen in the photo gallery smashing the
daylights out of a golf ball straight down the fairway.
Google Summer of Code 2008: I am a GSoC 2008
participant.
Last.fm: You can find what I am listening to at
this site.
Slashdot: News for Nerds
Zach Aders: This is one of my buddies. He's got some pretty
cool architectural stuff on there.
Links Maintained for Backwards Compatibility:
Speak Freely:
Software to do VoIP on an iPAQ (a prehistoric PDA).
CS 497 Presentation: An
ancient presentation I gave as an undergraduate.
